Who is therapy for: In short, everyone. We all experience struggles from time to time and need more support. Coming to therapy will help you gain a better understanding of who you are, where you come from and how to deal with challenging struggles. It's my role as a therapist to listen carefully and understand your perspective so that we can work together to find an approach that best supports you. Together, we explore what you feel, what you already know, and learn what you have yet to discover. What should I expect from therapy: Therapy is a process that allows us to better understand ourselves and each other so that we can live with meaning and intention. Crucial to the process is the presence of a caring, responsive therapist who will work closely with you. In my work, I strive to connect with every person in the room and to truly understand both you and the difficulties you're experiencing. Through curiosity and acceptance, I support you in discovering strategies that will allow you to handle all that comes your way. I attempt at all times to bring unconditional positive regard to my sessions. This is my intention because I believe and have experienced it as the most effective way for people to be able to engage in challenging, life changing work. This doesn't mean you won't be challenged in our work together, it means that I won't judge or argue with your struggle. Does it work: Research has shown that participating in therapy can actually change the structure of the brain because it creates a reparative experience. Unique from most social environments we participate in on a day-to-day basis, the therapeutic environment is absent of judgement and critique and allows for open and honest exploration.
